Bengt E. Thomasson (1926–2024)

We have just been informed by Marietta Horster that on January 2nd 2025 the great scholar Bengt E. Thomasson passed away, just a few days before his 99th birthday.

He will be properly remembered next year at the Swedish Institute in Rome, to celebrate the Institute's (and his) 100 anniversary, but in the meantime we will be often thinking of him, every time we will use his unavailable research tools, as the constantly updated Laterculi praesidum, or his handwritten records on the Carmina Latina Epigraphica of Rome...

“Sit tibi terra levis” could never be more appropriate as a farewell formula.
